Sliced bread?
A Missouri town almost forgot it invented the greatest thing since anything: sliced bread
In 2001, Catherine Stortz Ripley found an old newspaper headline claiming that Chillicothe was the first place to make sliced bread. Since then, this rural Missouri town of 10,000 has reclaimed their name to fame and even declared July 7 Sliced Bread Day, an official holiday.

I recall fondly years ago when I attended a mall exhibition display in HK and was introduced to a business owner from Germany. He shared some of his products, and discussed the technology his company developed to offer fresh bread, which reduced the number of staff to operate a bakery. I was tempted to visit Germany to see the machines for myself, though his interests were in bringing the technology to HK. There was something beautiful about his appreciation for what bread could mean in our daily life, and how wonderful it would taste.
