Review: Gotoflyer
Trustpilot indicates multiple reviews with a similar complaint: a generic email stating that the airline ticket is unavailable, then followed by a phone call from a Gotoflyer representative stating that the reservation price is invalid, asking for more money to book a ticket. If you say you no longer want the ticket, then the rep states that you will be charged a cancelation fee (which as some Trustpilot reviews pointed out - Gotoflyer called me to cancel the reservation at the advertised price, so why would I be charged a fee?).
Analysis of Gotoflyer.com communications & policy
From reviewing the Gotoflyer About Us page I simply wouldn’t feel comfortable purchasing an air ticket, or making a reservation. Gotoflyer claims to be a leading US based travel agency, along with providing ‘lowest possible price.’ There is no third-party reference or ranking provided for credibility. Regardless, it seems obvious that their claim is false, or at least dubious since there is no qualification detail attached.

The Gotoflyer About Us page states the following - Get Exclusive deals: To make your trip affordable there are some exclusive deals offered by us.
However, the refund policy page does not state a policy regarding refunds for ‘exclusive deals’ that are reserved by a customer, then canceled by Gotoflyer.

The only cancellations that qualify for a refund are those that are made within 72 hours of the reservation. The refund procedure takes about 10 to 15 days to complete.
Cancellation
Every user must agree to the cancellation policies of our website before using it, as they have been mentioned. Use this website only after you have read and agree to all of the policies described here. Following the reservation, all decisions will be based on the policies listed below.
After 72 hours from the time of booking, cancellations are not eligible for a refund. The only way we can get a cancellation request is over the phone; we don't get any through email or chat. Most cancellations are not reimbursed. Due to the hotel and airline refund policies, we cannot guarantee a refund following a cancellation.
Author’s note: Gotoflyer’s cancel & refund policy page states that Gotoflyer cannot guarantee a refund. Trustpilot reviews for Gotoflyer indicate full refunds are not offered. The policy page does not state a policy regarding partial refunds, however it states, “A full refund is the only circumstance in which we will reimburse the service fee.” And, “Most cancellations are not reimbursed.” This can be interpreted as Gotoflyer’s policy is to charge a service fee if a reservation is canceled, so a full refund is highly unlikely. -Marky
If Gotoflyer contacts the customer to cancel a reservation at the advertised price, then Gotoflyer charges the customer’s credit card a cancel fee, according to Trustpilot reviews, if the customer declines to complete the reservation at the now higher reservation price for a seat on that particular flight. -Marky

Notes: From the Trustpilot Gotoflyer reviews, plenty of frustration - as many comments noted they would never do business with Gotoflyer. I blame sites like Jetcost.com which list fares provided by gotoflyer. Jetcost fares listed as ‘gotoflyer’ are considerably lower than other OTA fares, yet, if airline tickets are not honored and confirmed at the advertised price by gotoflyer it is a disservice by airfare listing providers to offer reservations that will result in a poor reputation for travel agents and unnecessary additional costs for travelers. It seems this is why Trustpilot reviews refer to Gotoflyer business practices as a scam. -Marky
